My first career was in social work after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work. I enjoyed my work and found value in what I did, but I often felt held back creatively. My passion for design kept pulling at me, so in 2015 I decided to take a chance and follow that path. I completed an intensive diploma program that gave me hands-on experience with real clients and a chance to build my skills under tight deadlines. It pushed me in new ways and showed me that I had finally found what I was meant to do.
That background in social work shaped how I approach design. Being a successful designer takes more than technical skill. It requires good communication, time management, problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate. My years working directly with people taught me all of that, and it’s a big part of what I bring to every project. I also know the value of listening and understanding someone’s goals before jumping into the creative work.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to create design work for several startups and help businesses through their rebranding projects. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a client light up when they feel that their new logo, website, or stationery truly reflects them. Good design solves a problem, but it also tells a story, and it’s a great feeling to help people figure out how they want to present themselves to the world.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually creating something with my hands. Embroidery, painting, vinyl projects, and jewelry making are my go-to outlets. I also enjoy photography and love capturing special moments for my family and friends. Keeping my hands and my mind busy is just part of who I am.
If you’d like to work together, I’d love to connect. Let’s see what we can create!
